Owned by Bacchanal Wine Imports, Picco del Sole represents the direct involvement of Bacchanal’s family into the selection of the wines. This unique advantage guarantees consumers the highest quality for the best price. Each year, the selection is made in strict collaboration with the winemakers and the producers from various regions throughout Italy, so that consistency and quality are maintained year after year.
Picco del Sole is produced in cooperation with Cantina Pedres. Since the late 1800s the name Mancini has been synonymous with quality wine making, and this is no different with the youngest descendant, John Mancini. The perseverance and commitment of Mr. Mancini has led to the foundation of Cantina Pedres. The basic principal that drives Cantina Pedres is that the quality of the wine is determined in the vineyard. Sound and careful management of the vineyards and the constant implementation of new grape growing methods are only a small portion of what Cantina Pedres refers to as the quest for quality.
The name Picco del Sole refers to the ‘peak sun’ and the great importance of sun exposure — crucial not only for the photosynthesis, but also for the heat it provides. Grapes will not ripen in a region that has an average annual temperature of less than 50 degrees Fahrenheit during the growing season. Sardegna is a fantastic example of the importance of the sun in the production of wines, and the result is superb!
